Our yoga and adventure retreat in Ubud, Bali will be a once in a lifetime, life-changing experience. We will combine our love of yoga with the thrill of travel, connection, and cultural immersion in one of the most enchanted, inspiring, beautiful places on Earth.
This is an 8-night Yoga and Adventure retreat held at Swasti Eco Cottages as our home base. Swasti is a beautiful eco-resort designed to blend harmoniously with the natural beauty of the jungle with an open-air yoga pavilion, a pool, a spa, an organic farm on premises (!), a phenomenal restaurant, and dreamy private cottages. The cottages are built using natural materials and traditional Balinese architectural techniques and I feel like Indonesian Smurfette every time I'm there. Goats, kitties, chickens, and lots of birds will be part of our experience. Swasti is a special little place in the middle of the jungle: homey and lush and real. As my friend, Flora, describes it: Swasti has soul.
Leaving plenty of details out, I want to paint a picture of how the retreat will feel to make sure it's the right thing for you:
Each morning we will begin our day with a 90-minute power yoga session in the yoga shala— followed by breakfast at Swasti's delicious and healthy (and truly farm-to-table) restaurant. Some days might be 75 minute yoga, other days 80 minutes, other days 100 minutes. It will be a nice long yoga class that makes you feel great. From here our daily adventure awaits...
There will be 4-5 pre-planned, day-long excursions (included in the price and totally optional) where we will hike through terraced rice fields to a waterfall one day, learn balinese dancing from a local family the other, and spend a morning at a sacred temple the next. We will be out in the community meeting people, learning about life in Bali, and truly falling in love with the good people of Bali. We'll dine at great restaurants, be relentlessly inspired, and have a trip of a lifetime.
Two of our days there will be nothing on the schedule after yoga so you can choose your own adventure. You could lounge at the pool and spend hours at Swasti's spa, or spend the day in the cultural heart of Bali in Ubud where the shopping is insane and the vibe is just absolutely inspiring. Bali is magical and Ubud is home to many spiritual landmarks, local markets, tropical forests, terraced rice fields and sacred waterfalls. We'll be able to experience so much.
And, as always, the best part of every retreat is the friendships we'll make and the people we'll meet. Traveling like this is life changing. You’ll connect with like-minded people from around the world forming lasting friendships and bonds, and changing your perspective on life forever. If the best part of being alive is connection than this is where you can stop time and luxuriate in that.
Absolutely do not miss this retreat.
Travel/Arrival:
Bali is a full 12 hours behind EST.
You will be flying into Denpasar (DPS) and it will take between 23-40 hours of travel to get there from the US so you'll have to start your journey a day (or two!) beforehand. Just keep noticing when - which day - you land and plan accordingly. Some of you may want to land the day before we start.
Our retreat begins on Monday, January 5th with an evening yoga class and our opening dinner.
As part of the retreat you will be picked up at the DPS airport and driven directly to Swasti. If you land the day before and are at a hotel we can pick you up at your hotel.
Departure:
There will be a rolling list of departing flights on January 13th. There will be yoga class and breakfast for those who can make it and check out is at noon. You can surely leave your luggage at Swasti if your flight isn't until the evening and you plan on spending the last day exploring.
Weather:
January is Bali's wet season so this is hot, humid, and jungly. The crowds are much lower this time of year and it's way way way better than being here in January.
Photos:
The photos that are attached above ( click 'see more photos' in the banner photo) are my photographs from the two times I have been the photographer on Flora Bowley's painting retreats held at Swasti Eco VIllages. You will see portraits of people you don't know, but I'm adding them here because those photos were taken at Swasti and I want you to get a sense of the place. There are also photos of hidden waterfalls and rice terraces that we'll be seeing on our trip.

You can, of course, plan to arrive anytime before that, but our opening yoga and Welcome Dinner is on January 5th, 2026.
It may be a good idea, if possible, to land the day before. On the East Coast we are a full 12-hour time difference so there's the reality of jet lag. Far from suffering, but kinda weird to fall asleep mid conversation, ya know?
